CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) — The number of homes and businesses without power in Rhode Island is down to 48,000, less than half what it was at its peak.
National Grid says some people could be without power until Friday night.
Spokesman David Graves says 122,000 customers were without power at 6 a.m. Tuesday. They cut that in half by Wednesday at 6 a.m., and the number was down to 48,000 by around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Most of the outages are in the southern part of the state.
Graves says they hope to restore power in northern Rhode Island by Thursday night. He says individual outages in southern Rhode Island could take until midnight Friday to fix.
He recommends that if people see their neighbors have power and they don’t, they should call National Grid.
