President Donald Trump said London “needs a new mayor ASAP,” responding to a string of knife and gun attacks that have left three people dead and others injured over the past 24 hours.
Trump criticized London Mayor Sadiq Khan for the violence, calling the politician a “disaster” and warning that the situation will only get worse.
“LONDON needs a new mayor ASAP. Khan is a disaster – will only get worse!” wrote Trump on Twitter on Saturday.

Trump and Khan have feuded in the past. Last month, Khan said Trump was “not in the same class” as former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush, ahead of Trump’s state visit to the United Kingdom. Trump responded by calling Khan a “stone cold loser who should focus on crime in London, not me.”
Three men were reportedly killed in separate attacks in London on Friday and Saturday. One man was shot and the other two were stabbed. The BBC reported that there were at least two additional stabbing attacks in which the victims were injured. Police have arrested 14 individuals in connection with the attacks.
Khan has faced criticism for the increase in knife attacks in London. There were 4,277 knife attacks in the city between 2018 and 2019, according to Metropolitan Police statistics cited by the Daily Express.
