The Howard County Public School System confirmed two more new cases of the antibiotic-resistant form of staphylococcus.
The students were from Marriotts Ridge High School in Marriottsville and Harper?s Choice Middle School in Columbia, school system spokeswoman Patti Caplan said. The students were diagnosed recently.
Caplan said this brought the total of methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus cases for the school year to four. The other two cases were at Wilde Lake High School.
In Anne Arundel, there are now four confirmed cases of MRSA, school system spokesman Bob Mosier said.
All cases ? three at Severna Park High School and one at Ruth Parker Eason School in Millersville ? originated in September and all students have been treated and are back at school.
The Anne Arundel school system has posted a new fact sheet for MRSA from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on its Web site.
