House Intel committee: Still waiting on CIA, FBI on Trump wiretap charges

The House Intelligence Committee on Friday evening said it is still waiting for information from two intelligence agencies before it can reach a conclusion about allegations President Trump made about his predecessor wiretapping his campaign headquarters last fall.

“The Committee is satisfied that the Department of Justice has fully complied with our request for information from our March 8 letter on possible surveillance related to Donald Trump or his associates,” House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes said in a statement. “The Committee still has not received information requested from the CIA and FBI in our March 15 letter that is necessary to determine whether information collected on U.S. persons was mishandled and leaked.”

Nunes said the House committee has received some information from the National Security Agency and the rest will be turned over by March 24.

The House and Senate intelligence committees both announced earlier this week that they have not seen substantial evidence to confirm Trump’s Twitter claim that his Manhattan campaign base was spied on.
