Longtime Trump supporter Kid Rock to headline campaign rally in Michigan

Michigan native Kid Rock will headline President Trump’s campaign rally in Michigan on Monday.

The event, which will also feature Donald Trump Jr. and girlfriend and campaign adviser Kimberly Guilfoyle, starts at 7 p.m. EDT, according to the campaign website.

Kid Rock has long been a supporter of the president’s, first expressing his approval for Trump’s candidacy in 2016. The musician also golfed with the president at the Trump International Golf Club in 2019.

“Another great day on the links!” Kid Rock tweeted. “Thank you to POTUS for having me and to EVERYONE at Trump International for being so wonderful. What a great man, so down to earth and so fun to be with!! KEEP AMERICA GREAT!!”

Kid Rock teased a Senate run in 2017, garnering a response from his potential opponent, Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow.

“I know we both share a love of music. I concede he is better at playing the guitar, and I’ll keep doing what I do best, which is fighting for Michigan,” Stabenow said at the time.

The musician ended the speculation a few months later, saying that he was never seriously considering a run.

Michigan is set to be a battleground state once again in the 2020 election after Trump narrowly carried the state in 2016. He currently trails Democratic contender Joe Biden in the polls, similar to the situation he faced in 2016.
