Jeff Flake strikes out: Senate blocks his third push to protect Robert Mueller

The Senate on Wednesday rejected Sen. Jeff Flake for the third time as he tried to pass a bill to protect special counsel Robert Mueller from being fired by President Trump.

Flake has been pushing for weeks to pass a bill that would keep Trump from firing Mueller before the end of his investigation into Russian election influence. That investigation has expanded to other areas and has led to several indictments.
