Utah college student vanishes after Lyft ride

A student at the University of Utah has vanished after taking ride-share service Lyft from Salt Lake City International Airport to an industrial park in the early morning hours of June 18.

Friends and family do not know why Mackenzie Lueck, 23, took the Lyft service from the airport to the North Salt Lake industrial park and not to her home or her college sorority. The driver of the Lyft has been fully cooperating with police, who do not believe he was involved in the woman’s disappearance.

Nearly a week after Lueck’s disappearance, police said during a Monday press conference that they do not suspect foul play at this time, but they are concerned for her well-being. Since going missing, Lueck has missed several obligations and has not checked in with any friends or family.

Police further stated they have about an hour of security footage from the Salt Lake City airport that they are still reviewing and will not be releasing to the public at this time. Police have also withheld the exact location where Lueck was dropped off but stated that it was not a residence and they are still searching the area for clues of her whereabouts.

Lueck has also not been active on social media, and her phone has been turned off, according to her friends. Salt Lake City police appealed to the public for any information.
