Trump warns Iowans ‘your farms are going to hell’ if he loses in 2020

President Trump warned during a campaign rally that Democrats would hurt the agriculture sector if he is not reelected.

“They don’t care about the farmers,” the president said Friday to a crowd in Des Moines. “You should love Trump, with what I’ve done. We’re going to win the great state of Iowa, and it’s going to be a historic landslide, and, if we don’t win, your farms are going to hell, I can tell you right now. ‘Sell, sell,’ they’ll be saying. ‘Sell!'”

Trump, 73, touted his ability to help farmers, ranchers, and manufactures a day after he signed the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement on trade. The deal worked to stop the outsourcing of manufacturing jobs to Mexico while also attempting to open Canada up to more U.S. farm goods.

The International Trade Commission did a study that projected the deal would raise the GDP by $68 billion. “This is something we really put our hearts into. It is probably the main reason why I chose to live this crazy life,” the president said about the deal.

In August, a farmer expressed concern to Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren about her policies affecting the ranching industry. “The Green New Deal says we need to get rid of cows,” the farmer said. Warren responded, “Ehhhh.”
