Ohio resident James Alex Fields Jr. was denied bail during his first court appearance Monday for his alleged role in a fatal car crash in Charlottesville, Va., over the weekend, according to multiple reports.
Fields, 20, has been accused of intentionally crashing his car into a group of counter-protesters at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville Saturday afternoon.
Fields was charged with second-degree murder and other counts, according to ABC-11. He is believed by authorities to have killed one woman and injured 19 other people.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Monday the incident may be treated as a case of domestic terrorism.
