The Washington Teachers’ Union is offering $20,000 scholarships for students who want to become Michelle Rhee-assassins. Just kidding, they’re for kids who want to be teachers.
Any D.C. Public Schools student with a 3.0 GPA who plans to pursue a career in education is eligible for the scholarship program: They just have to submit three letters of recommendation from a teacher, principal or counselor; show proof of acceptance to a college with a certified teacher education program; and write a 500-word essay on why they want to become a teacher.
The deadline is March 31, so get cracking, kids! For info on how to apply, visit the union site.
