TikTok influencer Tanya Pardazi dies in skydiving incident at 21

A 21-year-old skydiving student died during a solo dive in Canada.

Tanya Pardazi was an up-and-coming TikTok influencer when she jumped on the solo course on Aug. 27, gaining 95,000 followers. She was a student at Skydive Toronto Inc., a school that requires ground training before solo dives. Pardazi had undergone the training, according to her final TikTok, in which she mentioned attending skydiving class.

Pardazi allegedly opened her parachute at too low an altitude, according to a statement from the skydiving school. When the parachute didn’t inflate, she fell to her death. Pardazi was then transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

“Canopy incidents are the leading cause of death and injury,” according to the Canadian Sport Parachuting Association.

“The jumper was a welcomed recent addition to the skydiving community and will be missed amongst the student’s new friends and fellow jumpers at Skydive Toronto Inc,” the statement from the school read. “The team at Skydive Toronto Inc has been profoundly affected by this accident as they have refined their student training program for over 50 years.”

It is unclear if Pardazi is the school’s first reported skydiving death. Skydive Toronto Inc. opted to not comment on the matter out of respect for the family. The school is in the midst of cooperating with the South Simcoe Police in its investigation into Pardazi’s death.

“Forever part of our team and in our hearts,” Pardazi’s former cheerleading squad at the University of Toronto Scarborough posted on Instagram. “Tanya Pardazi was one in a million.”
