Videos on social media show Canadians reportedly standing at the United States-Canada border while holding an upside-down Canadian flag and using lights to Morse code “SOS” in response to the “tyrannical” Ontario government’s lockdown orders.
“We are down here in Niagara Falls, Ontario. We have a flag upside down in distress. And we are about to Morse code ‘SOS’ across the border to our neighbors. We are asking for help. We are hostages in our province now,” one unidentified man says, adding that the Ontario government is “tyrannical.”

The videos come after the Ontario government announced strict new measures in response to the coronavirus on Friday, including closing playgrounds, limiting church services, banning outdoor gatherings with people from multiple families, and allowing police officers to stop people in public, ask them why they are out of their homes, and potentially write tickets.
The restrictions were met with fierce backlash and prompted the government to walk back the lockdowns on Saturday, most notably rescinding allowing police to question people who are outside of their homes.
Last night, Canadians at the U.S.-Canada border in Niagara Falls, Ontario signalled for help using lights to Morse code “SOS”. The group flashed “SOS” for about 3 minutes.

“We’re going to Morse code ‘SOS’ across the border, and somebody even notified the Border Patrol. And they are waiting for this message. So this is what it’s all about, guys. Take action. Take action. Do more than just protest,” the man in the video adds.
Border Patrol officials did not immediately return the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.
Videos of the scene also sparked a torrent of criticism aimed at Canada and its government for the strict restrictions, which came as other countries lift lockdowns and stay-at-home orders.
“I’d like to remind everyone that Trudeau was standard ‘Coexist’ Leftist a year ago. Now stormtroopers are raiding churches and Canadian citizens are living in a police state,” conservative radio show host Jesse Kelly tweeted. “It happens fast, folks. It happens real fast. They’re all an inch away from becoming tyrants.”

Other scenes in Canada show government officials cracking down on lockdown orders in recent days, including in a viral video of a Christian pastor screaming at police officers to leave his church when they tried to disrupt a service during Holy Week.

“Nazis are not welcome here. … Do not come back, you Nazi psychopaths. Unbelievable sick, evil people. Intimidating people in a church during the Passover. You Gestapo, Nazi, communist fascists! Don’t you dare come back here,” Artur Pawlowski can be heard shouting at the officers, who reportedly did not have a warrant.
