Former reptile dealer Jeffery Lynn Johnson, who was interviewed for Netflix’s Tiger King documentary, has died by an apparent suicide.
Police arrived at Johnson’s home in early September when his wife Charity reported that he had attempted to take his own life, the Oklahoma City Police told CNN Monday. He allegedly killed himself during an argument with his wife in the garage, and the couple’s two young children were in the house at the time.
The method was not reported, and he apparently did not have a history of mental health issues.

His obituary said that he “loved animals of all kinds and spent recent years as a stay-at-home dad.”
Johnson appeared in the fourth episode of the popular 2020 docuseries about eccentric tiger breeder Joseph Maldonado, better known as Joe Exotic. A lawyer for Joe Exotic told CNN that he had spoken to Johnson’s widow about his death.
