Food bank goes mobile, thanks to Walmart

A new mobile food pantry truck donated to the Capital Area Food Bank will provide an additional 200,000 meals each month to D.C. communities suffering from hunger. The $90,000 pantry, to debut in Ward 8 on Wednesday, is a gift from the Walmart Foundation through Feeding America, a hunger-relief charity that operates the nation’s leading food bank network. The Capital Area Food Bank distributes nearly 30 million pounds of food to more than 487,000 people in the Washington region. — Courtney Zott
