Wegmans recalls lemon and caper sauce

Wegmans recalled its lemon and caper sauce because of possible broken glass in the product.

Wegmans Food Markets Inc. is voluntarily recalling 11-ounce jars of Wegmans Italian Classics Lemon and Caper Sauce with a use-by date of Nov. 5, 2007, because “they may contain pieces of glass which could cause injury or a choking hazard.”

The use-by date is located on the shoulder of the jar, and no other code dates are affected by the recall.

The product was soldonly at Wegmans Food Markets in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. The recall affects 1,893 cases — 12 jars per case — packed on Nov. 5, 2005.

To date, there have been no injuries reported according to the recall, but Wegmans became aware of the glass through customer complaints.

Customers may return the product to any Wegmans store for a full refund. For information, call Wegmans Consumer Affairs Department toll free at 1-800-WEGMANS, ext. 4760 or visit www.wegmans.com .
