Will Colleges Kick Obama Off Campus?

The excuse some universities give for not permitting ROTC on campus is don’t-ask-don’t-tell. This is of course a policy the military follows pursuant to legislation passed by Congress and signed by President Clinton in 1993–but the universities choose to blame the military. Now it turns out that President Obama isn’t rushing to overturn the legislation. As the AP’s Lara Jakes reports, “the White House has not asked for the 1993 policy to be scrapped.” How then can colleges justify welcoming President Obama to their oh-so-can’t-be-tainted-by-discrimination campuses? Isn’t he far more responsible for the continuation of this allegedly heinous policy than the young ROTC students, or for that matter than the men and women serving in the armed forces?
