The Fairfax Planning Commission passed its comprehensive “vision” for Tysons Corner 10-1. The lone nay voter was Dranesville Commissioner Jay Donahue, who told The Washington Examiner that athletic fields separated the final plan from his support.
Donahue said he worried the burgeoning Tysons Corner population would require access to new athletic fields not explicitly included in the final plan.
“If we don’t get athletic fields in Tysons, a lot of people are going to be coming to fields in surrounding areas and they’ll become overburdened,” Donahue said.
For that reason, he chose to withhold his support for the plan.
“We didn’t come out with a bad plan, quite frankly,” Donahue said. “I just couldn’t get satisfied with the language that the planning commission wanted to put forward.”
