Pennsylvania school board rejects Satan club

Not today, Satan.

The Northern York County School District in Pennsylvania rejected the “After School Satan Club” in a 8-1 vote Tuesday evening after it was proposed by parent Samantha Groome for Northern Elementary School in Dillsburg.

“I never thought anything like this would come to the district. … I don’t want my son to be exposed to anything of the sort,” said Amy Wintermyer, another parent, according to FOX43.

SATANIC TEMPLE INSTALLS DISPLAY AT ILLINOIS CAPITOL

The After School Satan Club program is run by the Satanic Temple at “select public schools” throughout the United States where Good News Clubs, which spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, “also operate.” Children in the after-school program are provided with “activities and learning opportunities” under a self-directed education plan that aims to support the “intellectual and creative interests of students,” according to the organization’s website.

Lucien Greaves, the co-founder of the Satanic Temple, said that though the club was rejected, he would be taking legal action if the club was denied the usage of a public facility, according to the report.

“It’ll have to move into litigation, costly litigation that the community is going to have to pay for,” Greaves said about the school board’s vote.

The after-school program can be found in Ohio, Indiana, Utah, and Illinois. Pennsylvania was intended to be the next location.

Jane Addams Elementary School in Moline, Illinois, posted an online flyer advertising an after-school Satan club for students in first through fifth grades. The flyer, posted in January, listed several dates throughout the spring semester and received backlash from parents, one of whom questioned how the club was “even a thing” and who had approved it, according to FOX2now.

The Washington Examiner reached out to Northern Elementary School and the Satanic Temple for comment but did not receive a response back.
