President Trump said Monday that he “never worked for Russia” and is insulted to even be asked that question.
“I never worked for Russia. And you know that answer better than anybody. I never worked for Russia,” Trump told reporters before departing for New Orleans to speak at a farmer’s convention Monday morning. “Not only did I never work for Russia, I think it’s a disgrace that you even asked that question because it’s a whole big fat hoax. It’s just a hoax.”

Since the inception of the investigation into Russian collusion and involvement in the 2016 campaign and election, Trump has said it is a “hoax” and a “witch hunt.”
Over the weekend, Trump told Fox News during a live phone interview that being asked if he ever worked for Russia is the “most insulting thing” he has ever been asked.
“I’m going to ask you, are you now or have you ever worked for Russia, Mr. President?” host Jeanine Pirro asked.
“I think it’s the most insulting thing I’ve ever been asked,” Trump said. “I think it’s the most insulting article I’ve ever had written. And if you read the article, you’d see that they found absolutely nothing.”
Trump was referring to a Friday report from the New York Times that said Trump was secretly investigated by the FBI on suspicion that he was working for Russian, whether it was knowingly or unintentionally.
The report indicated that the FBI opened the counterintelligence investigation into Trump the day after he fired then-FBI Director James Comey in the spring of 2017.
