Sen. Elizabeth Warren is facing heat from a veterans’ advocacy group back home in Massachusetts for her support of illegal immigrants and not prioritizing veterans issues.
The Boston Herald reported on Saturday that Veterans Assisting Veterans wrote in an open letter that Warren and other Bay State Democrats need to take care of their own troops before assisting people in the country illegally.
“We’d like to see our leaders re-examine their priorities, put this at the forefront — if we have to, we’ll knock on some doors in D.C.,” said John MacDonald, a member of the group. “We need to take care of veterans first before we decide to take care of people who are illegally here.”
The group also mentioned Sen. Ed Markey, Democratic Reps. Michael Capuano and Seth Moulton and Boston Mayor Martin Walsh for not doing enough on veterans issues. Moulton is a veteran of the Iraq war.
However, it was Warren who received the brunt of the criticism.
“Senator Warren and others like her should know the difference between legal and illegal activity and chose instead to act out negatively in selfish political theater,” the letter stated. “Where’s your rally for US veterans, Senator Warren?”
