Trump: GOP tax reform bill ‘coming along very well,’ can save middle class more money with a ‘few changes’

President Trump praised the GOP’s efforts to overhaul the tax code Monday, but suggested some changes need to be made to the legislation in order to save the middle class and job creators more money.

“The Tax Cut Bill is coming along very well, great support. With just a few changes, some mathematical, the middle class and job producers can get even more in actual dollars and savings and the pass through provision becomes simpler and really works well!” the president tweeted Monday.

The House passed its tax reform bill this month and the Senate Budget Committee is scheduled to take up the Senate’s proposal Tuesday.

But some Republican senators have reservations about the legislation.

Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are meeting with Republican members of the Senate Finance Committee on Monday afternoon as the Senate prepares its push to pass its tax reform bill before the end of the year, delivering the Republican majority and Trump a legislative victory they have yet to secure.
