Navy and Marine Corps divers have recovered the remains of a second sailor who was missing from the USS John S. McCain, the Navy destroyer that collided with an oil tanker off the coast of Singapore earlier this week, the Navy said Friday.
The Navy said the remains were identified as Electronics Technician 3rd Class Dustin Doyon. Doyon was 26 years old and from Connecticut.
Navy officials told Fox News the remains were located Thursday in a flooded compartment of the destroyer.
Divers found the remains of one of the other missing sailors, Electronics Technician 3rd Class Kenneth Aaron Smith, 22, earlier Thursday.
Ten sailors were listed as missing after the collision, which occurred Monday. Eight others are still missing, and officials with the U.S. 7th Fleet believe their bodies are in flooded compartments.
The damage to the ship has made it difficult to access the compartments.
Monday’s collision remains under investigation.
Adm. John Richardson, commander of naval operations, ordered an “operational pause” following the collision, which is the fourth collision this year, two of which have been deadly.
The Navy removed Vice Adm. Joseph Aucoin, the three-star commander of the 7th Fleet, on Wednesday, citing “loss of confidence in his ability to commander.”
