Hollywood A-listers and media moguls descended on Washington Friday night to pre-game for the weekend’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, to be followed with more partying Saturday evening.
More than 25 parties — funded by media groups and often hosted by embassies or hotels — take place from Thursday to Sunday, but thousands turned out to parties inside the Beltway Friday night.
Time and People Magazine held a reception at the St. Regis Hotel downtown. “Scandal”‘s Scott Foley and his wife Marika Dominczyk, “The View” co-host Candace Cameron Bure, Vivica A Fox, Tamera Mowry, Allison Janney, Melissa Fitzgerald, Karlie Kloss and Jaimie Alexander were among the actors there, according to People’s tally.
NBC reporters Savannah Guthrie and Tamron Hall, Fox News host Greta Van Susteren, CBS co-anchor Gayle King and NHL player Valeri Bure also hit the hotel party.
A few blocks north, the Washington Post partnered with the Screen Actors Guild and Variety for a “Celebration of Journalism” at its new K Street NW headquarters at Franklin Park.
Political commentator Cenk Uygur and actors Jeff Goldblum, Emilie Livingston, Jazmyn Simon and Dule Hill were spotted mingling at the event.
Down on Pennsylvania Avenue NW at the Canadian Embassy, The Hill, Extra and Thomson Reuters treated guests to a red carpet experience. Extra correspondent AJ Calloway interviewed guests on their way in to the event.
CNN reporters Don Lemon and Michelle Kosinski, Fox News’ Jennifer Griffin and Shannon Bream, Michael Kelley of “House of Cards” and Jasmyn Simon from HBO’s “Ballers” were seen inside, The Hill reported.
The New Yorker reception at the W Hotel’s rooftop POV lounge drew actors as well as some familiar Washington faces. Former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., attended with her husband, recently retired NASA astronaut Mark Kelly.
Texas Rep. Joaquin Castro, Maine Sen. Susan Collins, Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian, PBS host Charlie Rose, White House Press Secretary John Earnest, MSNBC correspondent Andrea Mitchell, singer Sting and 2016 WHCD entertainer Larry Wilmore, also hit the party.
HBO, Google and the Smithsonian Art Museum threw a soiree at the recently renovated Renwick Gallery, located across from the White House. Kelly, by that time without Giffords, chatted there with celebrities in including soccer star Hope Solo, Bryan Cranston, there to promote “All the Way,” in which he stars as President Lyndon Johnson after the assassination of President Kennedy and actress Helen Mirren.
Omarosa, who starred in the Apprentice and supports Donald Trump’s presidential bid, also walked event’s red carpet, along with Trump foe Reince Priebus, the chairman of the Republican National Committee and top Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett.
