Comedian Kathy Griffin said in a recent interview that she would lump CNN President Jeff Zucker in with Harvey Weinstein and other “white, middle-aged guys and older guys that are truly running every single network and every studio in the United States.”
Appearing on the Australian entertainment news TV program “The Project” in late October, Griffin said she also knew of Weinstein’s reputation for inappropriate behavior with women before it drew national attention last month. Then she compared Weinstein to Zucker.
“This is really an epidemic in Hollywood,” said Griffin. “Like, my personal experience is more sort of career-ending abuse. As in, I can’t tell you how many — Jeff Zucker from CNN and all the network and studio heads, they all have to go down. Because honestly, Harvey Weinstein is not one single case. But the white, middle-aged guys and older guys that are truly running every single network and every studio in the United States, they all behave this way and everyone covers for them. It sucks.”

Her remarks on Zucker did not draw widespread attention at the time of the program’s airing on Oct. 24.
Griffin for years co-hosted CNN’s annual New Year’s Eve special but the network cut ties with her in May after she posed in a photoshoot with a severed mannequin head that resembled President Trump.
Reached Thursday by the Washington Examiner, a spokesperson for CNN said, “We won’t dignify such nonsense with a response.”
