Newt Gingrich blasted President Joe Biden for being an inciting factor concerning attacks on conservatives.
The former speaker of the House said Friday’s FBI raid and arrest of Catholic anti-abortion activist Mark Houck is indicative of Biden’s recent Philadelphia speech.
“Look, I think when you are the president of the United States, you have a speech in Philadelphia that describes half of his fellow Americans as enemies, and uses that kind of language, you have an escalation,” Gingrich told Fox & Friends on Monday.

Houck was arrested on federal assault allegations stemming from an incident last year involving a pro-abortion activist. Houck’s wife, Ryan-Marie, told LifeSiteNews that her husband and their son were on the sidewalk outside a Philadelphia abortion clinic when the pro-abortion activist began threatening their son and that Houck pushed the man away. The man reportedly tried to sue Houck, but the case was thrown out by the District Court in Philadelphia.
Gingrich noted that the FBI raid and arrest went after someone who “voluntarily drives two hours into Philadelphia to be a missionary to people who are drug addicts, alcoholics, people who have had their lives shattered. And instead of glorifying a person who is speaking for God and raising his children and trying to be a good person, you have the U.S. government apparently sending people with weapons at 7:00 in the morning.”
The former speaker also slammed the manner in which the arrest was conducted, as Houck’s seven children watched: “Imagine what they are watching as their father is taken away.”

Many voters have labeled Biden’s Philadelphia speech, given earlier this month, as a divisive, partisan, and inappropriate mistake. In his speech, the president caricatured Republicans as “extreme” and compared MAGA Republicans to those who “do not respect the Constitution.”
