Knock Out Abuse going with a Moulin Rouge theme

Save the date, socialites: This year’s Knock Out Abuse gala will be on Nov. 1 at the Washington Ritz-Carlton — with a theme of Moulin Rouge. For those unfamiliar with the fete, the annual fundraiser for anti-domestic violence charities was started back in 1993, and serves as a complement to the men’s charity event Fight Night, held across town the same night at the Washington Hilton. (The parties combine forces at the Ritz at the end of the night for several hours of raucous dancing). In recent years the star of the show has been former Washington Redskins’ Clinton Portis, who has stripped down to his skivvies during the live auction, to sell dinners with his truly. (Last year it went for a whopping $6,000). This year, let’s hope the VIPs have perfected the can-can.
