Incoming White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway says Americans can expect a “powerful” but concise inaugural speech from President-elect Trump after he is sworn into office at the U.S. Capitol on Friday.
“Anybody who’s confusing Donald Trump’s inaugural address with one of those never-ending senseless State of the Union [addresses], where they have the Christmas tree of goodies, will be sorely disappointed,” Conway told MSNBC’s Greta Van Susteran Monday night.
“He is a man who states his case very clearly, and very concisely and very convincingly,” she said. “And I predict that will be a hallmark of this address.”
Trump’s transition team has kept quiet when it comes to the details of his speech, though Conway said the incoming Republican president has been busy revising drafts and adding his own flare to what will be a historic address.
“He’s been reviewing his speech and making his own changes to it,” she said, noting that Trump had made changes to his victory speech only hours before the election was called in his favor on Nov. 8. “He’s doing the same thing here because he’s a master communicator.”
“I was in the room today. It was magnificent. It’s just a very elegant, beautiful, strong [and] powerful speech in his own words,” Conway added.
Trump will deliver his address shortly after he and Vice President-elect Mike Pence completes the swearing-in ceremony at noon EST on Friday.
Past presidents have typically used their inaugural speeches to set the tone for their presidency and identify what they hope to accomplish over the next four years. Trump is likely to do the same, in addition to echoing the call for unity he included in the speech he gave on election night.
