WATCH: Officer calmly dodges bullets while pursuing suspect in high-speed chase

Footage of a chase involving an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper and an armed robbery suspect went viral when it was released to the public last week.

The suspect in the chase was identified as 32-year-old Charles Carswell of Arizona.

Footage from the April 2 chase shows the officer calmly dodging bullets and radioing in events as the chase unfolds.

“[Trooper] 950, shots fired. He shot one through the back window,” Trooper Brack Miller says in the video. “Still pointing the gun.”

“Passing 10th. Nearly struck a OCPD motorcycle officer,” he continues.

The video was released Thursday to show that Carswell fired his weapon first, according to a report. In the footage, glass from Carswell’s car shatters as he takes shots at the trooper.

“Woo! That was ugly!” Miller says in the video. “I’ve taken one round through the front windshield. … He’s still continuing to fire.”

The footage ends when a round cracks Miller’s windshield.

The chase ended when Miller maneuvered to spin Carswell’s vehicle out of control, according to the report. At that point, Carswell exited the vehicle and fired on the troopers with an AK-47.

The suspect was later shot and killed by authorities, the report noted.

“It was like a war zone,” a witness stuck in the traffic delay caused by the incident said. “Everywhere you look, there was someone in gear with a gun.”
