Former Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich., thanked well-wishers for their support in his usual pithy manner Tuesday after he was hospitalized with a heart attack.
“Rumors of my demise may have only been slightly exaggerated, but I’m still here and you’re not done with me yet,” Dingell tweeted. “Thankful for all of your thoughts, your prayers, and for @RepDebDingell. Just not in that order.”

Dingell was taken to Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit on Monday after suffering the heart episode. His wife, Rep. Debbie Dingell, at the time said he was “alert and in good spirits, cracking jokes like always.”
John Dingell held the record as the longest-serving member of Congress prior to his retirement in 2015, having represented Michigan for almost 60 years.
Dingell, a Trump critic, regularly takes to social media to scrutinize the president.
