Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., offered a rare compliment to Fox News after it condemned network host Jeanine Pirro for comments she made about the Minnesota Democrat.
“Thank you,” Omar wrote in a tweet to the network Monday. “No one’s commitment to our constitution should be questioned because of their faith or country of birth.”

Pirro drew backlash when she questioned Sunday whether Omar’s religious beliefs are in opposition to the Constitution.
“Think about it: Omar wears a hijab,” Pirro said of the Muslim congresswoman. “Is her adherence to this Islamic doctrine indicative of her adherence to Sharia law, which in itself is antithetical to the United States Constitution?”
Fox News said Pirro’s comments “do not reflect those of the network and we have addressed the matter with her directly.” Late Sunday, Pirro said her remarks were meant to start a debate.
Hufsa Kamal, a producer for Fox New’s “Special Report with Bret Baier,” also pushed back.
“@JudgeJeanine can you stop spreading this false narrative that somehow Muslims hate America or women who wear a hijab aren’t American enough? You have Muslims working at the same network you do, including myself,” he said in a tweet.
