Howard to hold Freedom Walk this weekend

The Howard County Health Department will join the Community Health Awareness and Monitoring Program for the second annual Howard County Health Freedom Walk on Saturday. The walk aims to promote physical activity and better health habits, particularly in the black community.

The 5K walk will follow many of the Underground Railroad sites in Howard and honor those who traveled the railroad on their path toward freedom.

County Executive Ken Ulman, Council Member Calvin Ball, D-District 2, and U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., will attend the event to encourage walkers.

The event starts at 8 a.m. at Atholton High School in Columbia.
