ARTISTIC COCKTAILS

Just like chefs are considered culinary artists, mixologists are cocktail artists who craft beverages that not only taste great but look beautiful. Some of these “artists” will be competing in the Corcoran Gallery of Art and College of Art + Design 1869 Society’s sixth annual Artini fundraiser, which culminates in a fabulously fun ball on March 22. This year’s competitors hail from a variety of different restaurants, including Bandolero, Gibson, Jack Rose and more, and their goal is to make the perfect cocktail inspired by artwork in the Corcoran’s collection. Throughout March, each venue will present its cocktail at a feature night where you can sample the artistic masterpiece. The first such event begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday, with Daikaya’s mixologist, Eddie Kim, whose cocktail is inspired by artist Iona Rozeal Brown’s “afro.died, T.” Visit corcoran.org/artini to reserve your free spot, read more about the competition and vote for your favorite cocktail throughout the month.
