Commuters using Route 214 will have a lengthy detour for a few months.
The State Highway Administration plans to close the bridge on Route 214 over the Patuxent River to repair the aging span. The bridge?s cross beams are in need of repair and the deck needs to be resurfaced, SHA officials said.
The detour will take motorists along Route 424 (Patuxent River Road) to U.S. Route 50, and then to U.S. 301, where it re-connects with Route 214.
