Starting next school year, Howard County high school students can take American Sign Language courses to fulfill their world-language requirements for graduation.
Students must complete two American Sign Language credits while enrolled in grades nine through 12.
In addition, students will not have to take the Maryland School Assessment for geometry next year, based on modifications to the state curriculum.
The school board approved these revisions at a recent meeting.
