Shooting at Kansas high school leaves three injured

A Friday morning shooting at a high school in Olathe, Kansas, wounded three people, including the suspect, police said.

A suspect is in custody for allegedly wounding one resource officer and one school administrator, and there is no immediate danger, according to local news outlet Fox 4, Police have asked the public to stay away as they investigate.

Police officers responded to reports of gunshots at Olathe East High School in the administration’s office. The suspect, a student, was shot and injured by law enforcement, but no other students were injured, officials said.

Police Sgt. Joel Yeldell told reporters the resource officer and school administrator are in stable condition and expected to survive.

“School resource officer shot and injured, administrator shot and injured,” the Olathe Police Department tweeted. “Stand by on reunification area. No active threat at this time. No reports of injured students at this time.”

Special agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives are also on the scene to help with the investigation.
