Visitors from other cities often compliment Metro’s signs that tell riders how long they’ll have to wait for the next subway train.
By next year, they’ll have even more to make them jealous: Metro plans to roll out 155 similar signs for its bus system, according to agency spokesman Dan Stessel.
The signs will use the agency’s Next Bus system to forecast when buses will arrive. Currently riders can get that information individually by phone or internet, but the electronic signs will show a countdown to all riders at the busiest stops.
The District plans to add 70 signs to bus shelters along the busiest corridors in partnership with Clear Channel advertising, Stessel said, and the transit agency plans to add 85 more at stops around the region, primarily at major bus bays.
One similar sign is already in use at the Pentagon station, he noted.
