Gowdy blasts Pelosi’s coronavirus relief comment as one of the ‘most despicable things I have ever heard an alleged leader say’

Former Rep. Trey Gowdy blasted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi over a recent comment in which she said that a coronavirus relief package is “OK now because we have a new president.”

“That’s one of the dumbest and also most despicable things I have ever heard an alleged leader say, that because Joe Biden won, it’s OK to do it but if Donald Trump had won,” Gowdy told Fox News’s Dana Perino Monday afternoon.

“What’s missing, Dana, is if Paul Ryan or John Boehner had said or done what she just said, there would be media outcry,” the former South Carolina congressman continued. “What other entity has commented on what the speaker of the House just said? Because Biden won, we will do it. But while it was Trump, we weren’t going to give him a victory. I mean, it really is so outrageous. It’s hard to get me upset, but what she just said makes me madder than hell.”

Gowdy was responding to comments Pelosi made earlier on Monday, when she referred to the vaccine and President-elect Joe Biden as a “game changer.”

Congress is reportedly planning to put forward a short-term measure to keep the government running through Dec. 18 while both sides of the aisle continue to negotiate additional coronavirus relief.
