Anne Boone-Simanski: Calvert Hall films national commercial … with no Cardinals

Calvert Hall went Hollywood last week with the filming of a national commercial for Dick?s Sporting Goods. The commercial will promote back-to-school apparel and football gear.

Local production company Producers Video, led by Roy Lambert, shot the commercial, which also featured many other Maryland locations. Funny thing is, none of the kids used for the back-to-school were Cardinals. Budding stars included Alison Habicht of Loch Raven, Morgan Lambert of Roland Park Country School, Kayla Amin of Dulaney and two arch-rival Dons from Loyola ? Andrew Marsh and my baby Johnny Simanski. The commercial will run for six weeks, starting in late July.

TIME TO CELEBRATE

Last Friday was the 217th Bastille Day. But in Gaithersburg it was the 30th anniversary for L?Academie de Cuisine Culinary School, which has trained many a chef during the years, according to Dara Bunjon of Dara Does It (Creative Solutions for the Food Industry). No better way to celebrate than to prepare dinners full of French specialties. At least, that?s one way to help ease the pain of France?s World Cup loss to Italy.

SWEATING BULLETS

The summer has been racing along, and to some of those high-schoolers who have put off doing their school?s required summer-vacation community service, here?s a cool chance.
