Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan defended Ivanka Trump after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized her for attending the G20 Osaka Summit and talking with some of the world leaders there.
Ivanka, who works in her father’s administration as an adviser, was caught on video mingling with French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Theresa May, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Christine Lagarde, managing director of the International Monetary Fund.
“It may be shocking to some, but being someone’s daughter actually isn’t a career qualification,” the New York Democrat tweeted, adding “the US needs our President working the G20. Bringing a qualified diplomat couldn’t hurt either.”
In response, Morgan tweeted about how Ocasio-Cortez worked as a bartender prior to becoming a congresswoman.
Could be worse… Ivanka could have been a bar-tender 18 months ago. https://t.co/xAj8Guc3hH

Ocasio-Cortez replied, “Actually, that would make government better – not worse. Imagine if more people in power spent years of their lives actually working for a living.”

We’d probably have healthcare and living wages by now. https://t.co/HoxIyu6ftj

Morgan spent much of Sunday defending his dig at Ocasio-Cortez:
Why should Ivanka be belittled for being born into privilege? She’s worked very hard when she didn’t need to, and achieved considerable success. We should judge her on her merits, not deride her with reverse snobbery… https://t.co/oQlGc7oRyB

Oh come off it… the Clintons wrote the book on nepotism! https://t.co/O5s8LkJbmC

Yes, I also know that @IvankaTrump’s a brilliant, highly educated businesswoman who deserves more than all this petty bitching simply because people don’t like her father. https://t.co/UbT9re36DG

Morgan then said he loved the attention he was getting from fans of the congresswoman.
