More than half of the federal government’s major departments offered advice to Americans on how to watch Monday’s solar eclipse safely.
The only major agencies not to offer any advice were the Departments of Education, Housing and Urban Development, Justice, Labor, State and Treasury.
But most others joined in on the fun and offered advice about how not to hurt your eyes when staring into the rare event. They were:
1) Department of Agriculture: “While your eyes are on the sky, keep your mind on safety”
2) Department of Commerce: “Ready, set, eclipse,” from its National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
3) Department of Defense, which released a video on how to watch the eclipse safely
4) Department of Energy, “Throwing shade: 3 things to know about the solar eclipse”
5) Department of Health and Human Services: “Safely viewing a solar eclipse”
6) Department of Homeland Security: “Safety tips for 2017 eclipse”
7) Department of the Interior: “How to view the 2017 solar eclipse safely”
8) Department of Transportation: “FHWA urges drivers to prepare for total solar eclipse travel”
9) Department of Veterans Affairs: “Veterans, family members encouraged to use caution when viewing solar eclipse”
A key independent agency, NASA, also wrote plenty on the eclipse and how to watch it safely.
