Trump: My tweet about Obama ‘surveillance’ is ‘turning out to be true’

President Trump said his much-criticized tweet that he was being watched by the Obama administration “is turning out to be true.”

“My last tweet, you know the one that you are talking about perhaps, was the one about being in quotes, wiretapped, meaning surveilled. Guess what, it is turning out to be true,” Trump said in an interview with the Financial Times.

Trump is likely referring to information viewed at the White House by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, which Nunes said indicated that Trump’s associates, and possibly Trump himself, may have been caught up incidentally in surveillance conducted against foreigners.

The original tweet included the word wiretapped in quotes, as Trump said. Once officials began to deny that he was physically wiretapped, the White House pushed back by saying Trump meant to indicate surveillance generally.
