A political action committee associated with House Republican leadership announced $14 million worth of television ad buys in 15 districts across the country five weeks before the midterm elections.
The Congressional Leadership Fund, affiliated with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), is adding two districts to its list of targets and upping its spending in others. The two largest buys, each $2 million, are to help incumbent Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL) in the 27th District and oust Rep. Jared Golden (D-ME) in the 2nd District.

“We’re in a great position to elect a new Republican Majority,” CLF President Dan Conston said in a statement. “We’ll continue expanding our arsenal and laying down the additional firepower we need to take the fight to Democrats and win.”
The other large allotments are $1.8 million in New York’s 19th District for a seat that’s open after redistricting, $1 million in Ohio’s 13th District to help Madison Gesiotto Gilbert flip the seat Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) vacated to run for Senate, and another million in Illinois’s 17th District to boost Republican Esther Joy King in a new pickup opportunity for Republicans. Other buys are between $300,000 and $870,000.

CLF said its fall reservations top $190 million, setting a new record for spending after the 2020 election cycle. The PAC said it is mostly spending offensively on districts that President Joe Biden won in 2020, adding this isn’t the end of its spree and that it will make more ad purchases before Election Day.
The last month before the midterm elections is a crucial spending season as Republicans seek to flip control of the House of Representatives. They need a net gain of five seats to retake the majority.
