Nancy Pelosi condemns antifa for violence in California

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., called for the antifa members responsible for the acts of violence during a right-wing rally in California on Saturday to be “arrested and prosecuted.”

“Our democracy has no room for inciting violence or endangering the public, no matter the ideology of those who commit such acts,” Pelosi said in a statement on Tuesday. “The violent actions of people calling themselves antifa in Berkeley this weekend deserve unequivocal condemnation, and the perpetrators should be arrested and prosecuted.”

At least five individuals were attacked in California on Saturday when antifa members assaulted right-wing demonstrators, the Associated Press reported.

Pelosi urged individuals to use the event as an example to never “fight hate with hate, and to remember the values of peace, openness and justice that represent the best of America.”
