Montgomery County police are investigating a series of overnight tire slashings and graffiti in the Spencerville area.
Police said about 20 cars were vandalized between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. Wednesday on the 15500 block of Wembrough Street.
Officer Amy Daum, a police spokeswoman, said authorities are investigating the incidents as possible hate crimes, but it’s unclear who was targeted. The graffiti included male genitalia and derogatory comments about blacks and gay men, she said.
Police don’t have a description of the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call 240-773-5530 or Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS (8477).
