Texas just lost another customer as director David Simon announced on Tuesday that he will be taking his business elsewhere.
The director, best known for creating The Wire, announced on social media that he will not be filming his new HBO series in the state due to the abortion law recently implemented. Simon specifically mentioned that he would not ask his female cast and crew members to give up their civil liberties to film in the state.

“If an employer, this is beyond politics,” Simon wrote. “I’m turning in scripts next month on an HBO non-fiction miniseries based on events in Texas, but I can’t and won’t ask female cast/crew to forgo civil liberties to film there. What else looks like Dallas/Ft. Worth?”

The director asked if there were other areas to film, which prompted suggestions such as Denver, Colorado.
The new abortion law in Texas that went into effect on Sept. 1 bans most abortions as early as six weeks into pregnancy and would allow people to bring a civil action against anyone who performs or “aids or abets” such a procedure.
