A St. Louis couple who pointed their guns at Black Lives Matter protesters in a viral incident is set to appear at the Republican National Convention next week.
Advisers to President Trump said Patricia and Mark McCloskey would be voicing their support for the president while making remarks during the event, the Washington Post reported on Monday.
In a June confrontation with protesters, the husband and wife said they feared for their lives after a group of demonstrators broke down the gate that led to their street and approached their home. Protesters denied breaking the gate, and video showed some holding the gate open to get through it. At some point, however, the gate was damaged.
During the incident, Mark McCloskey brandished a rifle and Patricia a handgun. The two were each later charged with a felony count of unlawful use of a weapon.
The Trump administration has expressed its displeasure with the situation, and Missouri Gov. Mike Parson vowed to pardon the couple.
