The Arlington County school board appointed a new principal for high-performing Wakefield High School this week. Christian Willmore, currently an assistant principal at the school, will assume the lead spot for the mighty Warriors as of July 1.
Willmore began his teaching career at D.C.’s Cardozo High School, where the fluent Spanish speaker served as chairman for the English as a Second Language department. He then taught elementary school in Arlington before moving into administrative positions.
Wakefield has consistently ranked high among the most diverse high schools in the region. More than 90 percent of students in all racial subgroups last year passed Virginia’s “SOL” standardized tests.
