Hot week in forecast with chance of storms today

Thunderstorms are possible today, and temperatures approaching 100 degrees are expected Friday and Saturday, forecasters said.

Today, showers and thunderstorms are possible in the D.C. area. The National Weather Service reports a 60-percent chance of precipitation in the District, and rain is not expected for the rest of the week.

The normal high temperatures for the week at Reagan National Airport are 87 and 88 degrees. Today’s high is expected to be about 87 and match the normal high temperature for the date.

Forecasters predict that Tuesday and Wednesday will be slightly cooler than average, with highs of about 81 and 84 degrees, respectively.

Toward the end of the week, temperatures are likely to heat up. Thursday’s high at the airport is predicted to be about 92 degrees, while Friday’s and Saturday’s highs are expected to be about 99 degrees. Sunday’s high temperature is predicted to be about 94 degrees.
