Incumbent Sen. Robert Menendez’s lead is shrinking in his New Jersey Senate race against Republican challenger Bob Hugin, a new poll shows.
A Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday shows Menendez has a 6-point lead over the former pharmaceutical executive. Forty-three percent of voters said they’d vote for Menendez, while 37 percent said they’d pick Hugin.
Menendez had a 17-point lead in a matchup against Hugin in a Quinnipiac poll from March.

The Justice Department dropped its bribery case against Menendez in January after he was accused of accepting gifts from a wealthy donor in exchange for official favors.
Forty-nine percent of New Jersey voters think Menendez was involved in serious wrongdoing, the poll found. Only 16 percent thought the senator was not involved in serious wrongdoing.
The poll, which surveyed 908 voters, was conducted from Aug. 15-20. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.6 percentage points.
