Two Virginia men were sentenced Friday for their roles in a drug-trafficking operation that prosecutors say brought large amounts of cocaine from Mexico to Northern Virginia.
Rufino Oliva-Madrid was sentenced to 15 years and eight months in prison and Jose Vasquez-Reyes was sentenced to 11 years and 3 months.
Two other defendants in the scheme, Jamin Oliva-Madrid and Esteban Salguero-Ortiz, are scheduled to face trial Monday in federal court in Alexandria. Jamin Oliva-Madrid’s Chantilly business, JD Granite Countertops, allegedly was used as a stash house for the trafficking ring.
Fifteen people were indicted in June in the operation and 11 have pleaded guilty. Prosecutors say the operation brought drugs into Virginia from December 2009 to June 2010.
